Adding A Pop Of Colour

Jan 11, 2023 | Seasonal, Styling

Spring has official sprung, and it is usually the time to start spring-cleaning and revamping your home. If you haven’t already read my springtime blog for some tips on how to do this well, check it out.

The trends for this year are all about being as bold and as brave as you dare, lots of colour clashing loveliness. However this seems to put the fear into people. Worrying their home will be to bold or it will go out of fashion quickly. But I have always been a firm believer in restyling a space with accessories and spending your money on timeless, high quality pieces and restyling around them. Cushions and accessories can then be changed through out the seasons at very little cost. Things to spend money on should be big pieces e.g. your sofa, dining table etc. The rest can be swopped and changed with very little cost.

In the images for this blog I have restyled a dining room with a strong colour pop theme. The first thing when looking at the room is being drawn to the middle of the table because of the vibrant pink candles. The rest of the table has lots of colour and the key to do this is not to be too ‘matchy matchy’. Each glass tumbler and coaster is of a different colour and finally rather using boring white napkins. I switched it up with some Missoni Colour ones. Its all fairly simple but affective.

The unit at the back of the table has been restyled with some colour popping fabulousness. Simply done with an arrangement of perfectly placed accessories. Anything Fornasetti is always perfectly quirky. Here I have used a Fornasetti tray and paperweight. Along side a pop of colour hello sign from Rockett St George (The ultimate home of super quirky and original pieces). I have also introduced a bottle shaped table lamp in purple for some atmospheric lighting from Heals.

Half of the wall in this dining room has been painted in Farrow and Ball’s Stiffkey blue to help the colours from the graffiti plate’s pop. The final touches for this room is the super cute fluffy seat cushion, creating the perfect combination of texture and colour (it comes in a variety of colours). I choose pink against the blue and greys. But what is also perfect about these is they can be changed seasonally, instantly changing the vibe of the room.
